Casino Global

Comments On The Global Financial Crisis

Ups. Something went wrong. Casino Global has an issue. These days we observe surprised the incidents on the world's global finance markets and in our small local stock portfolios although nothing has happened beside the big banks gamed away their credit due to too much ambitious games. Rien ne va plus! The glamorous croupiers run out of chips. And even the re-exchange of the play money, the stocks, derivatives and warrants, seems to be difficult. The gamblers don't trust their own games any more. A big disillusion is taken place. However, a cure from this kind of pathological gambling is not to be expected, not due to a financial crash only. Politicians and bankers will fine-tune the rules of the game a little bit here and there and then the Croupiers will ask us to come back to the world's gambling tables.

Few days ago I read an article about Bhutan, a country which kept itself separated from the rest of the world for years. Now the country is going to develop itself carefully in order to increase the Gross Domestic Happiness for everybody. This term, Gross Domestic Happiness, is worth thinking through. A king who implements democracy himself and withdraws himself from politics. A national budget dedicated to education and environmental protection (a free of charge health system was establised long ago). We will see. However, the courage to follow the principle of Gross Domestic Happiness in direct neighbourhood to China, where we are witnessing a totally different experiment with unforeseeable consequences, provokes respect and sympathy.

But how about us? Happiness Economics have already analyzed our attitude in terms of happiness and money. Although money rules our life it does not provide happiness. Nothing is forgotten faster than the last salary increase. However, there is only one constellation, where we would prefer less money against more money. It's when people in our environment would have less money than we do. That's much more comfortable than staying with a lot more money in the neighbourhood of millionaires, where we would feel relatively poor. We prefer relative wealth more than absolute wealth. Gross Domestic Happiness? - Negative.

Instead enjoying our wealth we are struggling with social anticlimax. In order to achieve financial independence we are fighting for career development and more money to the account of family, friends and neighbourhood. As soon as the addiction to increase our Gross Individual Product has burned out us from inside, we say our work-life-balance is out of order and we need a coach. What we need is a therapy, which disburdens us from our paradigm and makes us ready to contribute to the increase of Gross Domestic Happiness.

By the way: What do you think - Are the stocks already that down, that it would be profitable to invest again?

Money, Money, Money -

Cannot Be Eaten & Drunk

Money does not make happy. You also need cars, houses, boats, jewellery... That's at least what economy says. - Do you know the legend of ancient king > Midas? He wanted to become as wise as Silenos was. Therefore, he caught him. Dionysus, who missed his teacher, had to fulfil Midas' wish that everything he touches should turn into gold. And so it happened. However, it didn't take long until Midas got aware, that gold cannot be eaten or drunk. He was lucky since he got a hint by Dionysus himself to get rid of that exceptional skill. Nowadays there are so many people who turn everything they touch into money, who don't hear the hints and die by emotional starvation.
