Between the client and my self, ours is an equal thinking partnership:
client and coach share together, examine together, and make meaning
together. ‘Together’ implies that there is no division. I may be coach
but I cannot instruct. I have no authority on the client’s life
whatsoever. The client is the expert on his or her life, business or
journey. My skills and training provide us with the tools to help the
client to clarify his or her thinking and define his or her direction on
the road ahead. I believe that the quality of our actions is deeply influenced by the quality of the thinking we do before taking action. Personal investigation and the constructive alignment of our personal beliefs, vision and strategy is core to our ability to achieve our definition of success. We are all in a reciprocal relationship with each other, the environment and the world – impacted by and impacting on these external influencers. We can choose how we think. Although we may feel pre-programmed and conditioned by society, we are largely free to decide how we think and how we communicate. Learning, un-learning, re-learning and embodiment is a sustainable life-long practice. And finally, to become more effective, what is most often required is a change of perspective. |

Whilst recent emphasis on business coaching has tended to focus on providing support for underachievers, I have an affiliation for coaching people who are already performing to high-levels. The core content of my coaching satisfies the high-achiever’s personal and performance and developmental needs. High-achievers tend to be confident in their own ability and I am similarly self-assured. High achievers are hungry for feedback and my expertise lies in the positive reinforcement of skills, knowledge and competencies.
